Dear God...

Dear God,

You gave me for a little while,
this child of Yours to have and hold.
A gift so pure from heaven above,
I stared in awe with joy untold.

I held him to my chest by day,
and in my arms he slept by night.
Such love I had not known before,
He was to us a shining light.

As months went by I watched him grow,
He learned to crawl, and walk and run.
His eyes were bright as twinkling stars,

Keagan - September 2006
With hair like golden rays of sun.

But then one day he did seem strange,
And things would change forever more.
Our lives were turned and tossed about,
As waves that rise and break at shore.

Through years of pain and sorrows great,
He fought the battle with all his might.
Until one day he could no more,
The end was near, and he lost the fight.

Dear God please help me carry on,
And hear my cries, don’t let me fall.
I know life will not wait for me,
So help me now to stand up tall.

Until my dying day has dawned,
I’ll cherish his memories with all my heart.
Thank You God – You took him Home,
‘Tis not the end, but a brand new start.
